Abstract:

Includes studio portraits and leisure-time snapshots depicting multiple generations of Godfrey family members, chiefly from the Santa Cruz area in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Among the identified individuals are Henry J. Godfrey, Caroline J. Godfrey, Herbert J. Godfrey, Susan Houghton Godfrey, Albert Deloss Godfrey, Evelyn Godfrey Blackmore, Martie Blackmore, Lillie Houghton and Solon W. Houghton. Also includes a few stereographs, most of which depict natural scenery. One photograph in volume 1 depicts the contortionist "Professor" Tom Godfrey, brother of Henry J. Godfrey
